The selection process is based on an assessment of each company's employer policies and procedures and the results of a 76 question Employee Engagement & Satisfaction Survey.

Companies from across the state entered the process to determine the Best Places to Work in Virginia. Each nominated company's workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics are reviewed. An employee survey measures the employee experience.
